Peltoniemen Hintriikan Surumarssi (grief march of Hintriikka of Peltoniemi) by Tapio Rautavaara.

Pois on asukas, autioituu
Pirtti ja seinät sammaloituu.
Pois veivät Peltoniemen Hintriikan.

Gone is the dweller, deserted
Will be chamber and walls will moss.
Away took the Hintriikka of Peltoniemi

Quick speedpaint on corel painter.

Deserted will be Peltoniemi when Hintriikka is gone

Argh.. my blog is totally falling apart :D Whenever I have time I’m just too tired to draw anything. Except at work of course but can’t really showcase those… at least not yet…

Something art nouveau-ish. Mucha-inspired. Based on the song Vesilahden Veräjillä by Korpiklaani, which is based on a Narva folklore of Hunnun Herra and Kirmukarmu. Hunnun Herra was a christian missionary who was found from a lake in Vesilahti. Kirmukarmu was a local pagan chieftain kind of man.. a warlord perhaps. He didn’t like Hunnu’s preaching so he nailed him on a tree and told him to give up his faith if he wants to live. A certain woman helped Hunnu escape but Kirmukarmu eventually found him. Then he tore off Hunnu’s arms and legs and he bothered Vesilahti no more.
God I love these Finnish stories about Swedish Crusades :D

This is a Finnish light cavalryman from the 30 years long war in the 1600’s, used by Swedish army. The legend tells they were so fearsome and brutal that catholic church of Germany made this prayer. “Oh lord, deliver us from the horrible army of the Haccapelites”.

They were equipped with two pistols and a sword, and their tactical use of two kinds of weaponry and also horses, made them near invincible. Of course this is just my romantized vision of the Haccapelites, but hey, it’s the Independence Day tomorrow :D

I decided to draw how it would look like if there was a huge office building in the middle of the Oulu centrum.  Like Technopolis. Then I thought it would be cool to have the existing shopping mall in downstairs. Stockmann, Vima, Akateeminen Kirjakauppa and whatever there are.. And this cool restaurant with a balcony.  View from Saaristonkatu to west. Reference: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/85/Saaristonkatu_Oulu_2007_09_02.JPG

First of all, I want to say that there’s no intention of insulting anyone. …right, so I made this funny quiz in DA and it appears I have a hobby of collecting finnish politicians. So I made this drawing of my current collection. I know.. I don’t have that many yet but I’m just starting.

First snow, yay! I decided today to take a hike with our dog, Kiske. We walked some 4 kilometers in forest before it was to dark to see. It’s so hilarious when the puppy jumped all over snuffing everything, the walk overall made me feel really good. Love this proper first snow. Not some lousy mix of water and snow we had last year all the time. Tomorrow morning I’ll go hunting, it’s easy to find tracks now, and today I already saw two flocks of forest birds. Riekko.. whatever it be in english..
