I noticed that I should draw many other things than just characters and sceneries in order to once becom a successful concept artist. Amongst the many other things there are weapons, which I now tried. This is bullpup style modern assault rifle with special napalm grenade launcher, silencer and scope. Some things I should’ve changed are the tip of the grenade which is too pointy, even though it should explode easier like this, and the switch that controls fire mode (semi-automatic, automatic, burst) should be better, it’s somewhat messy.

5 December 2008This is a Finnish light cavalryman from the 30 years long war in the 1600’s, used by Swedish army. The legend tells they were so fearsome and brutal that catholic church of Germany made this prayer. “Oh lord, deliver us from the horrible army of the Haccapelites”.
They were equipped with two pistols and a sword, and their tactical use of two kinds of weaponry and also horses, made them near invincible. Of course this is just my romantized vision of the Haccapelites, but hey, it’s the Independence Day tomorrow :D

2 December 2008Theme:No Time. This is based on photography of Oulu from 1920’s. But I’m fairly sure this is exactly how it looked like in 1939 too. None of these buildings exist anymore, though the second block from left looks very similar. There’s Marimekko boutique there nowadays if I remember right. It’s a terrible shame they wrecked the beautiful Kansallis-Osake-Pankki-building. The one with the tower. :(
