I’m not sure if this interprets the song Kirjeitä Paratiisista by CMX perfectly.. but it’s this feeling I got from these particular lines in the chorus:

Kaita polku paratiisiin kulkee läpi painajaisten
Hirviöitten, kummajaisten, kauppasaksavainolaisten

Narrow path to paradise runs through the nightmares.
Monsters, freaks, hounding hucksters

well.. that last word is bad translation.. “kauppasaksa” is very very old word meaning a travelling merchant.Vainolainen is old word too, it means some enemy faction which hounds and attacks the friendly faction. Soviets were “vainolainen” for Finland in WW2 in some “vainolais”-stories. Usually their evilness is greatly exaggerated in these stories. However, these words combined.. it doesn’t exist in Finnish language either so it’s pretty hard to translate. And huckster.. just sounded better than hawker and peddler and is equally old expression :D But hopefully you get the idea..

CMX – Suojelusperkele (Guardian perkele)

Se tunteitasi rakastaa ja hengittää keuhkoissasi. Se silmiesi takaa katselee, se rakastaja kaaoksen. (It loves your feelings and breathes in your lungs. It watches behind your eyes, the lover of chaos.)

I tried a technique I’ve never heard about before, though there’s no doubt someone has already done this. I drew only the outlines of highlights, looks a little like some filter in Photoshop. When you’re drawing only highlights you get totally another perspective in shading overall, you start looking at different things you’d usually do. It was interesting experiment.

I changed the theme for the blog. The previous one – altought it was cool – had these ugly borders in image-links. Like that RSS-logo in the menu.

Theme:Gray. And inspiration from Paradise Lost – Grey.

In this autumn rain
We’re blessed with autumn skies (autumn skies)

I’m doing it for myself
Not somebody else
I’m doing it for myself

Calling out in shame
Silence engrained
Crying out your name
Something wrong but beautiful, so beautiful

Without you I get washed away by the first autumn rain..

When I got this theme I instantly recalled Rick Wakeman’s album Journey to the Center of the Earth. (though I slowly started actually drawing it, Messenger takes too much of my time :P) I especially enjoyed the overall atmosphere of the amazing songs and interesting narration combined, it almost felt like watching a movie. If anyone knows other suites like this, where there’s an interesting narrated story knit together with a wonderful songs, feel free to tell me :P In my opinion the JCE beats those ordinary audiobooks 100-0.
After sleep, they continued down the other tunnel in
their quest for water, and whilst searching on his own, Hans, the
guide, heard the sound of water thundering behind a granite wall,
and, with a pick axe, attacked the wall so as to allow a stream of
boiling water to enter and cool in their tunnel. Not only had they
found life in the water but they had also found a flowing guide to
the Centre of the Earth. They called the stream the Hansbach.
